Song of the Month

I have been humming this song for the past 3 days. Its catchy and very melodious. I love Sridevi in Chandni movie. I loved her costume especially her sarees :D . Its a nice romantic movie :) . I hope you enjoy it as well.

If you read my last blog, then you would know that I tried my Konad nail art. I use Rimmel’s Pro in Hot Gossip which is a sultry red colour. I just applied a base coat, Rimmel, Konad on top of it and followed by Seche Vite top coat. I love Rimmel nail polish especially the Pro ones. The brush is so broad and easy to us. The formulation is fantastic and all I need was just one coat of Hot Gossip.

Moving on to the Konad, I had the white nail polish and as you can see they look fabulous (Thanks to hubby) :D . The image I used is a flower with a stem and leaves. I am loving the nail art. I think you will see more of this series :D .

Review : Konad Nail Art

I have to talk about this today because finally I have perfected the use of this :D . It’s basically a stamping nail art which works :) . At first, I was skeptical about this because it remind me of one of those TV shopping ads where it works for that person but it won’t work for you :) . But I was really tempted to buy this in Las Vegas mall and finally I gave in to the temptation.

Check out their website for more pictures. Its basically like a rubber stamp. I bought the starter kit for $ 15 and I really thought that was expensive but I realised that It was fair once I started trying it. The started kit has a nail polish, image plate, stamp and scraper. The nail polishes for this kit are specially made with more viscosity, so it’s very thick and you cannot apply this directly on your nails. As I have become a major nail person, I had to try this out. Check out the video for how to use it.

My first try was after returning to Dublin by myself where I had difficulties trying to scrap out the polish and ended up looking a disaster on my nails. I have never done nail art ever and It was frustrating to perfect it. So I lost interest in it until yesterday :) . I am a blog addict and I do check some nail blogs. Yesterday I found a blog where the girl used the Konad nail art and it looked amazing on her nails. So I decided that I will give it a try again.

But this time I was smart :D , I called Hubby to help me. After 2 trials, he finally got the hang of it :D . And it seriously looks good. For a first time, its seriously good and I think he might get better in the near future (lol). I am loving it. I am going to buy more image plates as they have the cutest images and my favourite is the bow. For nail art fans, this is a fantastic buy. I will post my nail picture tomorrow :) .

This is an anti-wrinkle cream which is suppose to soften the fine lines and wrinkles within weeks. They are also very expensive and its about £ 30 . I saw these in Boots about a year ago and it was in clearance. The first time it was about € 18 and I thought why would I spend that much on a face cream. Then some time later, I found it for € 3 and I thought its a good deal for trying out stuffs.

I always have one anti-ageing/anti-wrinkle cream in my stash. I read this somewhere that everybody who are in the late 20’s have to start using them for a good skin. It’s no use if you start after you find wrinkles in your face. Though I don’t use them everyday, I used my last anti-ageing cream about once a week.

I use this as a night cream after a night out with full makeup or even if I find that I need more moisturizer on my face at night. I use it more like a treatment and its excellent for winter for my dry skin. It smells different and I can’t put my hand on the smell. It doesn’t bother me at all as I am sensitive to most smells. The texture is very thick and I thought that it will look oily on my skin.

When I apply it on my face, It’s very thick and I massage it into my skin except my eye area. But as you start massaging in a circular motion, my skin just absorbs it in 20 seconds and I can see the difference. My skin feels so soft (like baby bottom soft) and I love it :D . I have used this at least once a week as a night cream. I can’t honestly say if it will work out as an anti-ageing cream but I love the way my skin feels after using this :) . As you can see from the photo, I have used about 25% of it.

Overall, this is definitely worth buying for people with dry skin especially if you found a bargain. But I honestly don’t know if I will be spending that kind of money to buy my next bottle.

Description of the Product

When used with the accompanying Nourella Delay Tactics Skin Nutrition Supplements, it improves the skin quality, structure and appearance and reduces the effects of ageing and sun damage, as well as other damaging factors such as smoke, pollution, alcohol and lack of sleep.

The performance of the Nourella Delay Tactics combination is down to its premium quality ingredients. The cream, for instance, contains proven skin rejuvenators, most importantly vitamin A, collagen and colostrum.

The performance of the Nourella Delay Tactics combination is down to its premium quality ingredients. The cream, for instance, contains proven skin rejuvenators, most importantly vitamin A, collagen and colostrum:

  • Vitamin A: Nourella Delay Tactics Cream contains activated complex bound A-vitamin palmitate – a water-soluble form of retinoic acid (tretinoin) that isn’t harsh on the skin (retinoic acid, though well documented as a skin rejuvenator, isn’t allowed in cosmetic formulations in its pure form because it can burn and discolour the skin). And because it’s water-soluble rather than fat-soluble, activated complex bound A-vitamin palmitate can penetrate the epidermis and dermis, where it is broken down into retinol.
  • Collagen:  A fibrous protein that makes up 75 percent of the skin, collagen improves skin texture and softness.
  • Colostrum:  The immunoglobins in colostrum help skin retain water, while the presence of growth factor IFG-1 stimulates cell renewal.

I am a firm believer in moisturising my face all the time. Maybe I should have said it’s a necessity. I have a dry skin and during winter, they become extra dry :( . I have used this cream before and this is my second jar. This is a night cream for a normal and combination skin with moonflower enriched fragrance :D . It does sound good, doesn’t it? But it smells amazing :D . I love it.

The jar has about 50 ml of the product and I think, it’s about € 6 and I know that it’s totally worth that money. I am using this as a day cream during winter.  My skin looks patchy if I use the normal moisturizer which I used during summer. I love the cute little lavender colour packaging. My skin just absorbs the moisture as soon as I apply it. It doesn’t make my skin oily, it just gets the dewy finish :) .

This is my absolute favourite winter moisturizer and you can also see it in the picture that I have used it a lot. I have just about 10% left :) . This is definitely a worthy product for people with dry/combination skin.

Marketing Translations

Cracking an international market is a goal of most growing corporations. It shouldn’t be that hard, yet even the big multi-nationals run into trouble because of language and cultural differences. For example, observe the following examples below.

The name Coca-Cola in China was first rendered as Ke-kou-ke-la. Unfortunately, the Coke company did not discover until after thousands of signs had been printed that the phrase means “bite the wax tadpole” or “female horse stuffed with wax” depending on the dialect. Coke then researched 40,000 Chinese characters and found a close phonetic equivalent, “ko-kou-ko-le,” which can be loosely translated as “happiness in the mouth.”

In Taiwan, the translation of the Pepsi slogan “Come alive with the Pepsi Generation” came out as “Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the dead.”

Also in Chinese, the Kentucky Fried Chicken slogan “finger-lickin’ good” came out as “eat your fingers off.”

The American slogan for Salem cigarettes, “Salem – Feeling Free,” got translated in the Japanese market into “When smoking Salem, you feel so refreshed that your mind seems to be free and empty.”

When General Motors introduced the Chevy Nova in South America, it was apparently unaware that “no va” means “it won’t go.” After the company figured out why it wasn’t selling any cars, it renamed the car in its Spanish markets to the Caribe.

When Parker Pen marketed a ballpoint pen in Mexico, its ads were supposed to say “It won’t leak in your pocket and embarrass you.” However, the company mistakenly thought the spanish word “embarazar” meant embarrass. Instead the ads said that “It wont leak in your pocket and make you pregnant.”

An American t-shirt maker in Miami printed shirts for the spanish market which promoted the Pope’s visit. Instead of the desired “I Saw the Pope” in Spanish, the shirts proclaimed “I Saw the Potato.”

Colgate introduced a toothpaste in France called Cue, the name of a notorious porno magazine.

In Italy, a campaign for Schweppes Tonic Water translated the name into Schweppes Toilet Water.

Changes in my blog

I have wanted to change the outlook of my blog for a long time. I just don’t know if I will be able to manage my website. I want it to be simple and easy to work with but I am scared to pay the money and then realise that it’s too tough for me to manage. So I stayed in this blog till now.

Hubby pointed out that I have a CSS option which I didn’t know what it is. So I researched and found some books on it. I couldn’t even finish chapter 1 :( . It was so damn boring and way over my head. But hubby promised me help with this one, so I purchased the CSS option in June. I waited a long time and begged hubby to take a look at it but to no avail :( .

So about 3 weeks ago, I decided I would do the dummies way. So I researched in net for all the easy ways to play with the themes. I didn’t need to know about everything just the colour change and the backgrounds. So I researched and played with my theme for about 3 hrs and finally changed some little things in my blog. Some of my friends also helped me when I got stuck with a problem.

So you will be seeing a lot of background changes in the near future :D . I did find lot of nice backgrounds for my blog. I am still in 2 mind whether I should get my website. It’s not bad, just $ 7 a month. Hubby told me to go for it but I am afraid that it will be a waste if I lose the interest to blog anymore :( .

Anyhoos, I am still learning about CSS. I just learn one new thing every week :D and that is all I can do. I am more of a biology person and not a computer person. All these computer language just goes over my head.

Humour

A lady manager of a big reputed office noticed a new man one day and told him to come into her office.

” What is your name?” was the first thing she asked the new guy.

“John ,” the new guy replied.

She scowled, “Look… I don’t know what kind of a namby-pamby place you worked before, but I don’t call anyone by their first name. It breeds familiarity and that leads to a breakdown in authority.

I refer to my employees by their last name only … Smith, Jones, Baker …that’s all.

I am to be referred to only as Mrs. Robertson. Now that we got that straight, what is your last name?”

The new guy sighed, “Darling…. . ……. My name is John Darling.”

” Okay John, the next thing I want to tell you is . . . ”

Review : Lush Face Mask

I got the Lush face mask about nearly 2 months ago and its called Mask of Magnamity. I am seriously scared to go inside the  Lush shop because when I go inside, I end up buying something :( . I was interested in buying face mask after reading some reviews but they are little bit expensive. But I thought why not give it a try. There are 2 types of masks available there, the fresh mask which has the expiry date of 3 weeks and the normal mask which has the expiry date of 3 months. I bought the normal mask as I knew that I wouldn’t use the fresh mask within 3 weeks.

Moving on to the product, it a green colour mask with granules in it. It has the scent of peppermint which I like :) and after it dries in the face, add little water and you can use it as a scrub as well :) . I use this mask for special occasions as it makes my skin feel clean and bright. It had about 125 g of product and its about € 7 (I think). It is pretty expensive for a mask and scrub but thinking about it, If i buy the individual packs of mask, it will cost me about € 1.50 for each use. So overall, it’s not a bad price at all.

But I do like the mask a lot. It can be little bit drying but I apply a night cream after this. I think it’s a good mask for oily skin. When I finish this mask, I am going to get another one :) .

Description of the Product

Deeply cleansing, toning and exfoliating pepperminty mask. Refreshes and brightens all it touches.

I got the Almay Pure Blend Eyeshadow in Apricot and Stone. It was on sale in Target for $ 3. So I bought it to try it. The Apricot is a peachy colour with a little frost and the Stone is a frosty grey colour. It does not look anything special.

The packaging is ok as its a cardboard but I am not impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows. I like the Wet N Wild eyeshadows better than this and Its cheaper as well. I don’t have any thing more to say about it. I have used this only once and somehow I am not reaching for this eyeshadows at all.
